Champions League Dream Delayed for Algeria’s Yacine Titraoui

Algerian international Yacine Titraoui suffered a major setback right at the start of his stint with the French club Lens.

Medical exams revealed that he has a knee tendon injury, which will keep him off the field for some time.

A product of the Athletic Paradou youth academy, he attracted attention immediately upon his arrival at Lens, after playing four matches with the team.

Titraoui had delivered performances that earned him the attention of the French media, before his promising start was cut short during the match against Lorient last Saturday.

He was forced to leave the field in the 60th minute due to the injury.

The newspaper “La Voix du Nord” reported that the Algerian national team player will be sidelined until after the next international break.

This means that, based on current information, he will not return to competition before October 7.

The Bordj Bou Arreridj native will therefore be unable to play in his historic first Champions League match, as he will miss the kickoff of Lens’s campaign in the competition against Slavia Prague next Thursday, thus postponing his dream of making his debut in Europe’s most prestigious tournament.

It is highly uncertain whether the 23-year-old will join the “Greens” for their upcoming training camp, especially since the new coaching staff, led by Ibrahim Hamdani, had planned to give him a chance after former coach Vladimir Petkovic had denied him one.
