There was reportedly tension at Enyimba Football Club on Monday after a training session was disrupted following the arrival of Sporting Director Daniel Eke at the club’s facility alongside officers of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS.
According to reports, the development led to the removal of some club officials from the training facility, while players, coaches and other personnel were reportedly taken to a police station.
The incident is said to have created a tense atmosphere around the club as preparations for Enyimba’s next Nigeria Premier Football League fixture were affected.
Reports indicate that Enyimba chairman and former Super Eagles captain, Kanu Nwankwo, intervened in an attempt to de-escalate the situation and restore calm.
The reported confrontation comes less than 24 hours after Enyimba suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Inter Lagos, a result that would have added to the pressure surrounding the Aba-based club.
