Comoros Football Federation (FFC) president Saïd Ali Saïd Athouman has expressed strong support for FIFA’s proposed Forward Enterprise project, describing it as a significant opportunity for developing football nations.
The initiative, spearheaded by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, could provide up to $20 million in funding to the Comoros Football Federation. The investment is expected to help modernize the country’s football infrastructure and strengthen the development of the sport across the island nation.
Athouman urged fellow football administrators to assess the proposal based on their own circumstances rather than the concerns raised by some European football bodies.
“We shouldn’t reject it without having studied it beforehand. If I were European, perhaps I wouldn’t think that way. But I live in a different reality,” he said.
The FFC president stressed that many African football federations operate under fragile financial conditions, making initiatives such as the FIFA Forward Enterprise project a vital source of investment and long-term growth.
Athouman concluded by encouraging his counterparts across Africa to evaluate the project through the lens of their local realities, arguing that the potential benefits for infrastructure and football development outweigh broader continental debates surrounding the proposal.
