COSAFA U-20: Zambia shift focus to Comoros after Malawi win

Zambia has shifted its focus to Comoros after making a winning start to the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations/COSAFA Qualifier with a 2-0 victory over Malawi.

The Junior Chipolopolo Boys opened their Group C campaign on Friday at Zimpeto Stadium in Maputo, Mozambique, with substitute Billy Daka scoring both goals to secure maximum points.

Coach Perry Mutapa and his technical bench have since turned their attention to Monday’s encounter against Comoros, with the team fine-tuning its preparations in all areas.

Zambia will conclude its Group C campaign against Botswana on September 23. The 2026 COSAFA Under-20 Championship features 12 teams divided into three groups of four, with the three group winners and the best runner-up advancing to the next stage in accordance with the tournament regulations.

Hosts Mozambique are in Group A alongside Mauritius, Namibia and Seychelles, while Group B comprises defending champions South Africa, Angola, Lesotho and Eswatini.
