Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have kicked off preparations for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup with an intensive international training programme aimed at sharpening the team’s readiness for the global tournament.
The reigning African champions opened camp in Chicago, United States, before setting off on a multi-country tour that will also take them to China, Spain, and Germany.
In China, D’Tigress will play three international friendly matches against the Chinese national team in Haikou to test their strength against top opposition.
The team will then move to Tenerife, Spain, for additional warm-up fixtures against Spain and Belgium as part of their build-up.
Their final training phase will be held in Berlin, Germany, where the coaching crew will fine-tune tactics and finalize preparations before the start of the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.
The international tour is expected to provide valuable competitive experience as D’Tigress seek to make a strong impression at the world championship.
