The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced the dates for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with the tournament scheduled to take place from June 19 to July 18, 2027.
In a landmark decision for African football, the competition will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania—marking the first time three East African nations will co-host the continent’s biggest football showpiece.
Branded “Pamoja,” a Swahili term meaning “together,” the tournament reflects a spirit of unity and regional cooperation.
The joint hosting is widely seen as a major step forward in strengthening football development across East Africa, while also promoting collaboration among the three nations.
The month-long championship is expected to feature Africa’s top national teams competing for continental glory, drawing millions of fans both within the continent and globally.
Organisers in the host countries have already begun preparations, focusing on upgrading stadiums, transport systems, and other key infrastructure to meet international standards.
Beyond football, AFCON 2027 is projected to deliver significant economic and social benefits. Increased tourism, improved infrastructure, and heightened global visibility are among the anticipated gains for the host nations.
