The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has confirmed that national team head coach Hossam Hassan will remain in charge after the federation approved a new contract following Egypt’s encouraging performance at the FIFA World Cup.
In a statement released on Wednesday, EFA President Hany Abo Rida announced that the board had also renewed the contract of team director Ibrahim Hassan, ensuring continuity within the national team setup.
Hossam Hassan, 59, took over as Egypt’s head coach in February 2024 and guided the Pharaohs to the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Earlier this year, he revealed that he had continued leading the national team without a formal contract since February 2026.
Under his leadership, Egypt secured their first-ever World Cup victory with a 3-1 win over New Zealand in their Group G campaign.
The Pharaohs then defeated Australia in a penalty shootout in the Round of 32 to reach the knockout stage before their impressive run ended with a narrow 3-2 defeat to defending champions Argentina in the Round of 16.
According to local media reports, Hassan’s new agreement is expected to keep him in charge of the Egyptian national team until 2030, reflecting the federation’s confidence in his long-term vision for Egyptian football.
