Ghana’s U-17 women’s national team head coach, Joe Nana Adarkwa, says the Black Maidens are ready for their Round of 16 encounter against Argentina at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, despite an outstanding qualification bonus from the group stage.
Adarkwa expressed confidence in his team’s readiness for the knockout-stage challenge, with Ghana aiming to continue their campaign and secure a place in the quarter-finals.
The coach also provided an update on the team’s welfare, confirming that per diem payments had been taken care of, while identifying the qualification bonus as the only outstanding financial issue.
“In terms of per diems, they have done everything here, but what is left is our qualification bonus from the group stage to the knockout stage of the tournament. That is the only one we are waiting for. Apart from that, everything is okay here,” Adarkwa said.
His comments suggest that the team’s immediate focus remains on the contest against Argentina, as Ghana prepare for a crucial fixture in their quest to progress further in the competition.
The Black Maidens will need to maintain their discipline and composure against the South Americans, with a victory guaranteeing a place in the quarter-finals and keeping Ghana’s hopes of a deep tournament run alive.
While the outstanding bonus remains unresolved, Adarkwa’s update indicates that other welfare arrangements are in place as the team prepare for one of their most important matches of the tournament.
