FIFA U-20 WWCQ: Nayiga confident as Queen Cranes step up Ghana preps

The U20 Uganda Women’s National Team, the Queen Cranes, remain in residential camp at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, as preparations intensify ahead of the first leg of the final round of the African Qualifiers for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2026.

With the decisive two-legged tie against Ghana drawing closer, the squad continues to undertake high-intensity tactical, technical and physical training sessions, as focus sharpens towards the crucial encounter.

Midfielder Patricia Nayiga of St Noa Girls FC has expressed confidence within the camp, highlighting the team’s strong condition and collective belief as they build towards the fixture.

‘We are in good condition, and the coaches are giving us all the necessary technical support. As players, we are doing our best to earn a place at the World Cup. We believe we can get a positive result against Ghana and qualify,’ said Nayiga.

The U20 Uganda Women’s National Team will face Ghana in the final qualification round, with the first leg scheduled for 3 May 2026 at the Accra Sports Stadium, before the return leg on 9 May 2026 in Kampala. The aggregate winner will secure qualification to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2026 in Poland.
