Flamingos Arrive in Ikenne Ahead of Guinea Clash

Nigeria’s women’s U-17 national team, the Flamingos, have arrived in Ikenne to continue preparations for their second-round qualifier against Guinea in the race for a place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The team travelled from Abuja to Ikenne where the squad will now intensify training ahead of the crucial first-leg fixture later this month.

Head coach Akeem Busari and his technical crew are expected to use the training camp to further improve team coordination, fitness and tactical discipline as the Flamingos target another successful qualification campaign on the continental stage.

The Nigerian side heads into the encounter in high spirits following an impressive series of preparatory friendly matches in Abuja.

The Flamingos displayed attacking strength and defensive solidity throughout the warm-up games, recording several emphatic victories against local opposition.

Their preparation began with a commanding 6-0 victory over Nazareth Queens before the team produced another dominant display in a 7-0 triumph against Generation Next.

The Flamingos also defeated YAFA 7-2 in a high-scoring encounter that highlighted the squad’s attacking quality.

The team later settled for a draw against Real Rising Stars but bounced back strongly in their final test game, thrashing Solo Wonder Babes 7-0 to round off preparations on a positive note.With confidence growing within the camp, the Flamingos will now turn their full attention to the upcoming clash against Guinea as they aim to move a step closer to securing qualification for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
