Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah has been crowned the new WBO Africa Light Heavyweight champion after defeating Nigeria’s Godday “Zodsolo” Appah by majority decision.
The highly anticipated Ghana-Nigeria showdown took place at The Balmoral in Lagos as part of celebrations marking Nigeria’s Independence Day on October 1.
Macbones delivered a composed performance over the course of the bout, doing enough to convince the majority of the judges and secure the continental title.
The victory adds another significant achievement to the Ghanaian boxer’s professional career and sees him claim the WBO Africa Light Heavyweight championship on Nigerian soil.
The bout formed part of a special Independence Day boxing event in Lagos, bringing together fighters and fans to celebrate Nigeria’s Independence Day.
