Fulham agree personal terms with Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu

Fulham have taken a major step toward signing Chibuike Nwaiwu after reaching personal terms with the Nigerian defender. The 22-year-old established himself as one of the breakout stars of the Turkish season after joining Trabzonspor in January 2026.

Chibuike Nwaiwu quickly earned a regular place in the starting lineup, made 21 appearances and impressed with a series of commanding performances. His rapid rise also earned him three caps for Nigeria.

The Premier League club now plans to complete the second phase of the deal by negotiating with Trabzonspor. Fulham have already secured an agreement with Nwaiwu that will keep him at Craven Cottage until 2030, but the Turkish side continue to value the defender at no less than €30 million. Club officials remain confident they can find common ground during the talks.

Trabzonspor invested €6 million to sign Nwaiwu from Wolfsberger AC only a few months ago, and his value has increased significantly since then. Fulham believe the Nigerian international has the qualities to strengthen their defense for the long term, making him one of the club’s top priorities during the summer transfer window.
