Cody Gakpo has offered a heartfelt tribute to teammate Mohamed Salah, highlighting the Egyptian forward’s influence both on and off the pitch.
Speaking about their relationship, Gakpo revealed that Salah played a significant mentoring role when he first arrived at the club, helping him settle into life at Anfield and adjust to the demands of elite football.
“I have to thank Mo for everything he did for me when I first came here. The conversations we had about football, but also about life, about mental stuff, about gym stuff, family. I appreciate, a lot, the way he spoke to me. He respected me in that way,” Gakpo said.
The Dutch forward went on to praise Salah’s professionalism and legacy, describing him as one of the most important figures in Liverpool’s modern history and a role model within the squad.
“Obviously I’m very grateful to have shared the pitch with him with the amazing things he has done for this club, for himself, for his family and for Egypt as well,” he added. “Like everybody will say, he is one of the biggest Liverpool legends and I think everybody is very grateful for what he has done for the club and for us.”
