Bad news for Olympique de Marseille as Geoffrey Kondogbia suffered a thigh injury during the away game at Monaco (0-2) and is expected to miss several weeks of competition, according to La Provence.
The 33-year-old Central African midfielder had played in only two Ligue 1 matches since the start of the season.
His injury further complicates matters for Bruno Genesio, who will now have to find a new solution in midfield.
Kondogbia had also been contributing in central defense since the start of the season. His versatility gave the Marseille coach an additional option for balancing his team.
With a squad already limited in that area, OM is losing an experienced player at a time when every option counts.
