The Ghana Football Association is set to incur a significant financial obligation following the dismissal of Otto Addo, who still had one year remaining on his contract as head coach of the Black Stars.
Addo, who signed a three-year deal with an option for a further 24-month extension, was reportedly earning a monthly salary of $50,000. His tenure, however, came to an end after two years in charge, prompting the GFA to trigger the termination clause of his agreement.
As a result, the association is now required to pay compensation equivalent to the remaining duration of his contract. This translates to an estimated payout of $600,000, covering the final 12 months of his deal.
The financial implication adds to the growing scrutiny surrounding coaching appointments and contract management within Ghana football. Addo’s departure also leaves the national team in search of a new direction as preparations continue for upcoming international assignments.
While the GFA has yet to officially disclose the full terms of the settlement, the compensation clause underscores the cost of managerial changes at the highest level of the game.
