Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, has clarified that the government is not responsible for the hotel accommodation of Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz, confirming instead that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is covering the costs.
The revelation comes amid public scrutiny over spending related to the national team, with questions raised about who is financing the early stages of Queiroz’s tenure. According to the minister, the arrangement falls squarely within the responsibilities of the football governing body, not the state.
Queiroz, who recently took charge of the Ghana national football team, is currently settling into his new role as he begins preparations for upcoming assignments. By distancing the government from the coach’s accommodation expenses, Adams sought to reinforce the delineation of financial responsibilities between the state and the GFA.
