Hearts of Oak secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Vision FC on Matchday 7 of the 2026/27 Ghana premier league, thanks to an 86th-minute strike from substitute Kwesi Asmah, as the Phobians recorded back-to-back wins and registered their first-ever victory over Vision FC in Tema.

In a closely contested encounter, both sides struggled to create clear-cut scoring opportunities, with defensive discipline and goalkeeping brilliance playing crucial roles throughout the match.

Hearts goalkeeper Benjamin Asare proved decisive early in the game, producing a spectacular fingertip save in the 17th minute and another goal-bound header in the 74th minute to deny Vision FC the opening goal. His intervention kept the Phobians in the contest and set the foundation for a resilient defensive display.

The visitors remained organised at the back, with central defender Kelvin Osei Asibey leading by example. The towering defender excelled in his positioning, aerial duels and timely tackles, helping Hearts frustrate Vision FC’s attacking efforts.

Asibey’s commanding performance earned him the Man of the Match award after playing a pivotal role in ensuring Hearts maintained their clean sheet.

With the game seemingly heading towards a goalless draw, Hearts found the breakthrough four minutes from the end of regulation time.

In the 86th minute, substitute Kwesi Asmah reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the penalty area before firing past the Vision FC goalkeeper to send the travelling Phobian supporters into wild celebrations.

The late goal proved enough to secure all three points for the visitors, rewarding their persistence in a match where chances had been limited.

The victory represents a significant milestone for Hearts of Oak, who have now won consecutive matches while ending their wait for a first-ever victory against Vision FC in Tema.

For the Phobians, Asmah’s decisive contribution and Asare’s crucial save highlighted the importance of individual brilliance in a tightly fought contest, while Asibey’s defensive excellence provided the platform for their success.

Hearts will now look to build on the momentum as they continue their campaign, with the important win offering further encouragement to head coach Nebojša Kapor and his squad.
