Defending Champions Medeama SC strengthened their grip on the top spot in the Ghana Premier League with an impressive 3-1 victory over Heart of Lions FC at the TNA Park on Matchday 6.

The Mauve and Yellow delivered a dominant performance, with Kingsley Braye scoring twice in quick succession in the second half to secure all three points and extend their unbeaten start to the campaign.

Medeama started brightly and were rewarded for their attacking intent in the 27th minute when Emmanuel Annor found the back of the net to give the home side a deserved lead.

The hosts maintained their advantage until the break before returning for the second half determined to put the game beyond their opponents.

Braye proved decisive in the 64th minute, doubling Medeama’s lead before striking again just a minute later to complete a remarkable brace and hand the league leaders a commanding 3-0 advantage.

Heart of Lions struggled to contain Medeama’s attacking threat but managed to find a consolation goal in stoppage time. Komi Mawutodzi Agbadji scored in the 90+2nd minute, reducing the deficit to 3-1.

However, the late strike proved insufficient to spark a comeback as Medeama comfortably saw out the remainder of the contest to claim another valuable victory.

The result leaves Medeama unbeaten after six matches, having recorded four wins and two draws to collect 14 points. They have scored 12 goals and conceded five, giving them a goal difference of +7.

For Heart of Lions, the defeat leaves them 11th in the standings with eight points from six matches. They have recorded two wins, two draws and two defeats, with seven goals scored and eight conceded.

Medeama will now look to maintain their impressive early-season form as they continue their pursuit of the Ghana Premier League title, while Heart of Lions will aim to bounce back in their next fixture.
