Grêmio Block Francis Amuzu from Black Stars Duty Ahead of Mexico Friendly

Grêmio FBPA have reportedly blocked Francis Amuzu from joining the Ghana national football team for their upcoming international friendly against Mexico national football team.

According to reports, the Brazilian side received official notice that Amuzu was expected to report to the Black Stars camp on Thursday, May 14, ahead of the high-profile clash. However, Grêmio have refused to release the winger, citing the late timing of the call-up notification.

The club is also understood to have emphasized the player’s importance to the squad during a crucial stretch of fixtures, with important matches against Confiança, Esporte Clube Bahia, Club Deportivo Palestino, and Santos FC all on the horizon.

Amuzu has become a key figure for Grêmio since his arrival, with his pace and attacking versatility making him an important option for the Brazilian outfit during a demanding period of the season.

The development represents a setback for Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz, who had hoped to strengthen his squad with additional attacking options for the friendly encounter against Mexico.

While discussions between the Ghana Football Association and Grêmio could still continue, the Brazilian club currently appear determined to keep hold of the Ghana international as they navigate a decisive run of matches.
