Hervé Renard Explains Côte d’Ivoire Return Eleven Years After First Spell

French coach Hervé Renard has explained his decision to return as head coach of the Côte d’Ivoire national team, eleven years after leading the Elephants during his first spell.

Renard said the quality of the current squad, the passion surrounding the national team and the country’s strong football momentum convinced him to accept the challenge.

“I accepted the challenge of returning to the Elephants eleven years later because they are a great team. They have players of exceptional quality, a country full of excitement and a fantastic momentum,” Renard said.

The Frenchman also praised Côte d’Ivoire’s recent performances on the international stage, noting that the team had enjoyed a strong World Cup campaign but still had significant room for improvement.

“They had a great World Cup, and there is still room for improvement. That’s why I accepted the challenge of returning to Côte d’Ivoire,” he added.

Renard’s return marks a new chapter with the Elephants as he looks to build on the team’s recent progress and harness the quality within the squad to compete for further success on the international stage.
