Jürgen Klopp made an immediate impression during his first press conference as Germany’s new head coach after replacing Julian Nagelsmann. The former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund manager described the appointment as “a great honor” and admitted he was “very moved” by the opportunity.
Klopp also thanked everyone involved in the process before calling on the German media to support the national team as a new chapter begins.
Klopp wasted no time addressing the media directly, warning that he would not tolerate attacks on his family. “I’m still happy here. But if you don’t want me anymore, I’ll leave. If you don’t leave my family alone, I’m leaving too,” he said. He also outlined his long-term vision, insisting Germany must develop its own football identity instead of trying to imitate nations such as Spain or France. “We have very good footballers. The situation isn’t so bad, far from it,” he added.
The new Germany coach also revealed his tactical plans, confirming he intends to use a four-man defense and play with wingers. While acknowledging that Germany does not currently possess the same individual talent as players like Ousmane Dembélé, Kylian Mbappé, Désiré Doué or Bradley Barcola, Klopp remains confident his side can compete with the world’s best through its own style of play. “The idea of Germany becoming world champions in four years is incredible. We need to play in a way that allows us to become world champions. I’m incredibly motivated, let’s go!”
