Kalidou Koulibaly warns Senegal against focusing only on France

Kalidou Koulibaly sent a strong message ahead of Senegal’s opening World Cup clash against France. Speaking on RMC, the Lions captain reminded everyone that Senegal must focus on the entire tournament instead of living in the memory of the famous 2002 victory over Les Bleus. The defender insisted that this generation wants to write its own story at the 2026 World Cup.

Kalidou Koulibaly acknowledged the importance of facing one of the strongest teams in the competition, but he urged his teammates to stay calm and concentrated.

The Al-Hilal defender explained that Senegal wants to start the tournament with a victory while avoiding unnecessary pressure around the France match. Senegal will also face Iraq and Norway in Group I as the AFCON finalists aim for a deep World Cup run.
