Mohamed Camara, goalkeeper for Asante Kotoko SC, has been handed a five-match suspension and fined GHS 20,000 by the Disciplinary Committee following an incident involving a referee after their Ghana Premier League clash with Karela United.
The sanction comes after Camara was found guilty of assaulting the match official in the aftermath of the fixture, an act the committee described as a serious breach of conduct regulations. In addition to the suspension and financial penalty, the player has received a formal warning regarding his future behavior.
According to the ruling, the suspension takes immediate effect, ruling Camara out of Kotoko’s upcoming league fixtures. The club has also been directed to ensure the fine is settled within 14 days, failing which further disciplinary measures could be imposed.
The Disciplinary Committee emphasized that any repeat offense by the goalkeeper would attract significantly harsher sanctions, underlining a zero-tolerance stance on acts of aggression toward match officials.
