Kumasi Born Qatar International Mohammed Muntari Joins Al Sadd SC as Free Agent

Kumasi born Qatari international Mohammed Muntari has joined Qatari giants Al Sadd SC as a free agent for the remainder of the Qatar Stars League season, adding experience and international pedigree to the clubโ€™s attacking options.

The 32 year old forward rose to prominence during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, hosted by Qatar, where he scored the country’s only goal of the tournament. Muntari found the net against Senegal in Qatarโ€™s 3-1 defeat, making history as the first Qatari player to score at a FIFA World Cup.

Born in Kumasi, Ghana, Muntari switched his international allegiance to Qatar and became a regular figure in the national team setup. His move to Al Sadd represents another chapter in a career that has seen him feature prominently in Qatari football, bringing valuable experience to the club as they pursue their domestic ambitions.

Muntari also joins a list of Ghanaian footballers who have represented Al Sadd over the years, including legendary midfielder Abedi Pele, Andre Ayew, Quincy Owusu-Abeyie and Opoku Agyemang. His arrival further strengthens the historical connection between Ghanaian talent and one of Qatarโ€™s most decorated clubs.
