According to the German daily Bild, the Bundesliga club sees Malick Fofana as a potential replacement for Yan Diomande, who joined Real Madrid in a transfer worth several million euros.
No concrete offer has yet been made for the Belgian international. However, Leipzig is reportedly considering other options if Diomande were to leave, and Olympique Lyonnais would be willing to facilitate a transfer. Fofana is seen as an option to bolster the attack.
Diomande has been officially announced as a Real Madrid signing. Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, and Arsenal were mentioned among the interested clubs, but a transfer to Real Madrid is now a done deal.
The transfer fee is reported to be at least 140 million euros for the Ivorian international, who made a name for himself at the World Cup.
Leipzig is therefore preparing for life after its winger and already has a potential successor in mind: Fofana.
The 21-year-old’s market value is currently estimated at 30 million euros.
