Leny Yoro has earned his first senior France call-up after Ibrahima Konaté withdrew with a right knee sprain. The Manchester United defender joins Zinedine Zidane’s squad after regularly representing France at youth level, including with the U21s and Olympic team.
The timing comes as Yoro faces a difficult spell at Manchester United. The 20-year-old has played just 22 minutes in the Premier League this season, making two substitute appearances in five matches.
He did start against Sabah in the Champions League and Brighton in the League Cup, while manager Michael Carrick continues to back his potential. “Leny is only 20; he has a fantastic future ahead of him and a lot of potential,” Carrick said.
Yoro has long stood out as one of France’s most promising young defenders. He made his Lille debut in Ligue 1 at just 16 before joining Manchester United for around €62 million in 2024. Despite injuries and limited playing time, he has now received an unexpected opportunity to make his senior debut with the Bleus.
