Liberia Kicks Off Referee Instructors and Assessors Training Course

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) officially kicked off a capacity-building workshop for referee instructors/ assessors, aimed at modernizing the training, and evaluation of match officials across the country’s leagues.

The intensive training course focuses on uniform interpretation of the Laws of the Game and the implementation of robust evaluation structures to ensure the smooth and fair running of domestic football.

Speaking at the opening session, FIFA Technical Instructor, Al Mohammed Ahmed emphasized that modern football requires a shift in how referees are developed. While a fundamental understanding of the rules remains essential, the modern game demands real-time interpretation skills on the pitch.

To achieve this alignment with global standards, participants have been urged to constantly upgrade their skills through elite FIFA, CAF, and international development courses.

By building a highly skilled pool of educators and evaluators, the LFA aims to directly impact the quality of officiating on the pitch, thereby protecting the integrity of competitions and raising the standard of play across all national leagues.
