Morocco continues to earn worldwide recognition ahead of the 2026 World Cup after Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni named the Atlas Lions among the main contenders for a place in the final.

During an interview with Argentine newspaper Olé, Scaloni included the Northern African country alongside football giants such as Argentina, France, Spain, Brazil, England, Portugal, Colombia, and Uruguay. His comments confirmed the growing respect Morocco commands on the international stage after several impressive performances in recent years.

Lionel Scaloni praised the quality and ambition of Mohamed Ouahbi’s squad as the countdown to the World Cup continues. The Argentina manager believes Morocco has the talent and discipline to challenge the strongest teams in the tournament. His remarks strengthened the confidence surrounding the Atlas Lions just days before the competition begins in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Morocco also received strong support from Spain coach Luis de la Fuente, who recently described the Atlas Lions as genuine candidates for the world title. Morocco now enters the tournament with rising expectations and increasing belief from some of football’s biggest names.
