Mamelodi Sundowns Face Travel Chaos Ahead of CAF Champions League Final Second Leg

South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns endured a major travel setback on Tuesday after plans for a private charter flight to Morocco were disrupted due to issues surrounding landing clearance approval.

The Brazilians had arranged a chartered aircraft to transport the team and technical staff to Morocco ahead of Sunday’s decisive second leg of the CAF Champions League final. The flight was scheduled to land in Rabat, where Sundowns are expected to continue preparations for the continental showdown.

However, complications emerged when the necessary landing permit from the Civil Aviation Authority had still not been approved, despite the application reportedly being submitted a week ago.

As a result, the entire travelling delegation was left stranded aboard the aircraft at OR Tambo International Airport for nearly eight hours while awaiting final clearance.

The unexpected delay created frustration within the camp as the club looked to finalize its travel arrangements smoothly ahead of one of the biggest matches in African club football this season.

Despite the disruption, Sundowns are still expected to complete the trip to Morocco once authorization is granted, with the team aiming to maintain focus ahead of the crucial continental final encounter.
