Morocco and South Africa have formally notified the Confederation of African Football of their willingness to stage the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations should original co-hosts Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania fall short of meeting required deadlines.
The two nations expressed confidence in their ability to deliver a successful tournament, pointing to their well-developed stadiums, training grounds, and overall infrastructure needed to host a competition of AFCON’s scale.
CAF is said to be keeping a close watch on the level of preparedness of the East African countries, while also putting contingency measures in place to avoid disruptions to the tournament schedule.
