Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe has confirmed that his current term in office will be his final tenure, signalling his intention to focus on building a lasting legacy for African football.
The South African businessman says his priority is to establish strong and sustainable structures that will continue to benefit the continent long after his departure from the leadership of the continental football governing body.
Motsepe also highlighted the need to improve the quality of African football competitions, strengthen member associations and enhance the continent’s competitiveness on the global stage.
With the 2030 FIFA World Cup approaching, the CAF president believes sustained investment in football development and stronger institutional structures will be crucial to helping African nations compete more effectively against the world’s leading football countries.
His confirmation places renewed emphasis on his long term vision for African football, with the focus now shifting towards building institutions and competitions capable of delivering lasting progress beyond his presidency.
