Chelsea have officially confirmed that Mykhailo Mudryk is eligible to play again after the English Football Association (FA) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) reached an agreement to resolve the Ukrainian winger’s anti-doping case.
The decision brings an end to a suspension that had kept the 25-year-old out of action since late 2024. Mykhailo Mudryk can now immediately resume his professional career with the Blues.
According to the FA, Mudryk tested positive for a low concentration of meldonium during an out-of-competition test on October 22, 2024. He received a provisional suspension in December before an independent Regulatory Commission imposed a four-year ban in January 2026.
Mudryk appealed the ruling to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but the case took a significant turn after WADA updated its Technical Document (TD2027MRL). Under the revised threshold, the concentration found in Mudryk’s sample would no longer trigger an anti-doping rule violation if the test were conducted today. As a result, the FA, WADA, and the player reached a settlement under Article 10.8.2 of the World Anti-Doping Code, with Mudryk accepting a suspension equivalent to the period he had already served.
The ruling allows Mudryk to return to competitive football immediately. His last appearance for Chelsea came on November 28, 2024, in a 2-0 UEFA Conference League victory over Heidenheim. After months of uncertainty and speculation over a possible move away from Stamford Bridge, the former Shakhtar Donetsk star will instead report for Chelsea’s pre-season tour in Hong Kong under Xabi Alonso. The London club also welcomed the outcome, stating that everyone at Chelsea is eager to help Mudryk regain full fitness, rejoin the squad, and return to action.
