Namibia’s U-23 national team has been handed a challenging first-round tie against neighbours Angola in the CAF qualifiers for the 2028 Olympic Games.
The two sides are scheduled to meet during the first-round window from 28 September to 6 October 2026, with the tie to be decided over two legs. Namibia will be hoping to make a strong start and secure a place in the next round of the qualifying competition.
The second round of the qualifiers will follow in November with the winner of the first round set to play Congo Brazaville. Meanwhile, NFA Head of Operations and CAF General Coordinator Titus Kunamuene is leading a three-day Potential General Coordinators Workshop currently taking place in Botswana on the sidelines of the ongoing COSAFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
The workshop brings together participants for an intensive learning experience focused on football match operations, coordination and the responsibilities of a General Coordinator in delivering successful football matches.
Kunamuene, who brings extensive experience in football administration and match operations, is facilitating the workshop and sharing practical knowledge on key areas including match-day operations, venue procedures, stakeholder expectations, designation and the overall role of a General Coordinator.
The workshop was officially opened by Botswana Football Federation Vice President Mr Tebogo Kamati, alongside the BFA Women’s Representative, who highlighted the importance of strengthening the capacity of football administrators and match officials across the region.
The three-day programme will continue with practical and operational sessions aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge and skills required to contribute to the effective organisation and administration of football competitions.
Namibia continues to contribute to the development of football administration and match operations across the COSAFA region.
