The Nigeria Premier Football League has imposed a 17-match suspension on Kennedy Boboye, head coach of Bendel Insurance, over allegations of serious misconduct.
In addition to the lengthy ban, Boboye was fined ₦2 million after being found guilty of improper conduct toward a match official during his team’s 2-2 draw against Plateau United last weekend.
According to the league body, the coach’s actions violated established standards of discipline and fair play expected in the competition.
The sanctions also extended to Bendel Insurance, who were charged with multiple breaches relating to the Matchday 32 fixture.
The club received a ₦2 million fine for failing to უზრუნველ adequate security during the game, as well as an additional ₦1 million penalty for behaviour considered damaging to the image of the league.
Furthermore, the club was fined another ₦2 million for holding match officials for approximately 40 minutes after the encounter.
As part of the disciplinary measures, Bendel Insurance—popularly known as the Benin Arsenals—will also play their next three home matches without fans.
