Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda, defenders Margaret Belemu, Martha Tembo and Lushomo Mweemba, along with midfielder Ireen Lungu have joined the squad in Kampala ahead of Thursday’s match against Uganda.
The five are among eight foreign-based players called up by coach Charles Haalubono to join the 17 locally based players for the back-to-back 2028 Los Angeles Olympic qualifiers. The Copper Queens Tuesday had their first feel of the artificial turf at Hamz Stadium, the venue for Thursday’s Olympic qualifier against Uganda.
The arrival of strikers Prisca Chilufya, Mercy Chipasula and Racheal Kundananji today completed Coach Charles Haalubono’s 25-member squad for the Kampala assignment. The team will have two training sessions on the artificial turf at Hamz Stadium, including tomorrow’s official training session ahead of Thursday’s match.
With the arrival of the five players, only Racheal Kundananji, Prisca Chilufya and Mercy Chipasula are expected to join the team tomorrow. Zambia will face Uganda on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, with kick-off set for 16h00 local time (15h00 Zambian time).
