Oumar Sako endured a rare blemish in an otherwise successful afternoon as FK Rostov secured an impressive 3–1 victory over Akron Tolyatti in the Russian Premier League on Sunday.
Rostov took firm control of the contest in the opening half through goals from Kirill Shchetinin and Mohammad Mohebi, putting the visitors in a commanding position before an unfortunate moment involving Sako just before halftime. The defender accidentally turned the ball into his own net in the 42nd minute, denying Rostov a potential clean sheet despite their dominance.
The own goal, however, had little impact on the outcome of the game as Viktor Melekhin restored Rostov’s two-goal cushion in first-half stoppage time. Rostov remained composed throughout the second half, comfortably seeing out the victory to claim all three points away from home.
While Sako will be disappointed with the unfortunate error, the result still marked another important win for Rostov as they continued their strong run in the league. The defender remains an important figure in the side despite the momentary setback.
