Carrick tried to calm the situation after the game. The Brazilian scored the late equaliser but acknowledged that United must create more chances and show greater intensity from the start.
The criticism has already intensified. Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa complained about the refereeing, while Gary Neville delivered a scathing assessment of United’s performance. The former defender questioned the players’ effort and urged Carrick to stop protecting them. Carrick recently dismissed speculation about his future, but The Telegraph has warned that the manager will ultimately face responsibility if results and performances do not improve.
