Real Madrid : Diomandé’s €130m fee sparks debate

Yan Diomandé is close to becoming a Real Madrid player, but the reported €130 million transfer fee has already caused controversy in Spain. According to Sky Germany and The Athletic, the deal has entered its final stages, with the Ivorian winger waiting for the final approval before completing his medical and signing for Los Blancos.

The excitement over beating Paris Saint-Germain in the race for the player quickly gave way to criticism. Gonzalo Miró questioned the size of the investment on COPE radio, arguing that Diomandé’s market value increased rapidly because several top clubs competed for his signature. “Just ten days ago, he was completely unknown to the general public. Now he has such a high market value,” he said, while expressing doubts about comparing him with Vinicius Jr.

Other Spanish journalists also questioned the deal and the role of player representatives, with some suggesting Real Madrid paid too much for a player who still needs to prove himself at the highest level.

However, Florentino Pérez and the club believe Diomandé has the talent and potential to justify such a huge investment. The Ivorian will now have to handle the pressure and prove that his price tag reflects his true ability.
