Rulani Mokwena begins a new chapter in his coaching career as Pyramids FC open their Egyptian Premier League campaign away to Ghazl El Mahallah.
The South African takes charge of his first competitive match since being appointed head coach of the Egyptian club, marking the beginning of a new challenge in one of Africa’s most competitive football leagues.
Mokwena is already making history at Pyramids. He becomes the club’s first South African head coach and only the second South African coach to manage in the Egyptian Premier League after the highly successful Pitso Mosimane.
At 39, Mokwena also becomes the youngest head coach in Pyramids’ history, adding another milestone to his growing coaching career.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach arrives with considerable expectations and will be tasked with guiding Pyramids to success domestically and on the continental stage.
His opening fixture against Ghazl El Mahallah provides the first opportunity to see his ideas implemented in a competitive environment.
For Mokwena, the appointment represents both a major challenge and a significant opportunity to further establish himself on the international coaching scene.
