Semi Ajayi Helps Hull City Earn Hard-Fought Draw at Chelsea

Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi played a key role as Hull City secured a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Ajayi started at centre-back as Hull continued their impressive return to the Premier League with another strong result against one of England’s biggest clubs.

The Nigerian international formed part of the defensive unit that frustrated Chelsea for long periods and helped the Tigers leave London with a valuable point.

Chelsea took an early lead through Morgan Rogers, but Hull responded strongly.

Mohamed Belloumi struck twice in the first half to turn the game around and give the visitors a 2-1 advantage at the break.

Chelsea eventually found the equaliser through João Pedro in the 66th minute, but Hull held firm during the closing stages to secure a share of the points.

The result underlines Hull City’s impressive start to life back in the Premier League.

The newly promoted side had already stunned Manchester United 2-0, with Ajayi scoring in that victory, before recording a goalless draw against Aston Villa and a 1-0 win over Coventry City.

For Semi Ajayi, the Stamford Bridge outing further highlights his importance to Hull’s defence.

The 32-year-old Nigeria international has established himself as a regular at the heart of the Hull backline following the club’s promotion to the Premier League.

Ajayi has also been part of Nigeria’s senior squad in 2026, featuring in seven international matches and making six starts, according to Opta Analyst.

With Hull City maintaining their unbeaten start, Ajayi’s experience and defensive presence could prove crucial as the Tigers face the challenges of their first Premier League campaign in several years.
