Good news for Senegal, as the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has announced that FIFA has confirmed Malang Sarr, Lamine Sy, and Rassoul Ndiaye are eligible to represent the national team.
Malang Sarr is now eligible effective immediately. The request to change sports associations filed by the FSF was accepted by the Sole Judge of the Players Status Chamber of the FIFA Football Tribunal, as part of decision FPSD-25822.
For Lamine Sy, a French-Senegalese dual national, the situation has also been clarified.
The player, who has never played for any French national team including youth teams meets the requirements set forth in the Regulations Governing the Application of the FIFA Statutes.
A confirmation from the French Football Federation dated September 18, 2026, validated his eligibility to play for Senegal.
The same applies to Rassoul Ndiaye. Born in Besancon and holding Senegalese citizenship, the midfielder has never worn the French national team jersey at any level.
FIFA has thus confirmed his eligibility to represent Senegal, as part of case number FPSD-25824.
These confirmations expand the pool of players available to Patrick Vieira as the Lions approach the deadlines for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
