SLFA Terminates Mohamed Kallon’s contract as Leone Stars coach

The Sierra Leone Football Association has terminated the appointment of Mohamed Kallon as Head Coach of the National Men’s Team, Leone Stars, with immediate effect.

In a press release dated April 2, 2026, the SLFA said the decision followed due deliberation and a considered assessment of the technical and strategic needs of the national team, concluding that a change in leadership is in the best interest of the Association and Sierra Leonean football.

The Association acknowledged Kallon’s service during his tenure and extended best wishes for his future endeavours.

Leone Stars Return with Rise in FIFA Rankings

The Sierra Leone delegation has returned home from their outing in Azerbaijan with a positive gain, climbing to 119th in the latest FIFA World Rankings—up one place from 120th.

The improvement followed their performance at the FIFA Series in Azerbaijan, where a closely contested match saw them narrowly fall 9-8 on penalties to the hosts. However, with only the result after 90 minutes counted for ranking purposes, the draw earned the Leone Stars valuable points, taking their total to 1,148.98.

This upward movement served as a timely boost for the national side, strengthening confidence and building momentum ahead of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.

With crucial fixtures scheduled for September and October, the Leone Stars will be focused on fine-tuning their squad and sharpening their competitive edge in preparation.
