SLFA Unveils Didier Gomes Da Rosa as New Leone Stars Head Coach

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has officially unveiled French tactician Didier Gomes Da Rosa as the new head coach of the senior national team, the Leone Stars, on Friday, June 5.

The experienced manager takes over at a crucial period for Sierra Leone football as the West African nation intensifies preparations for a series of upcoming international assignments, including the start of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign in September.

Gomes Da Rosa arrives with an extensive coaching résumé built across Africa, Europe and the Middle East. The veteran coach has managed several clubs and national teams throughout his career, earning a reputation for his tactical expertise and ability to build competitive sides in challenging environments.

Among his notable appointments was his stint with Horoya AC, where he enjoyed success and further enhanced his standing as one of the most experienced foreign coaches working on the African continent.

The SLFA is hopeful that the appointment will mark the beginning of a new era for the Leone Stars, who are seeking to improve their performances on the international stage. Gomes Da Rosa is expected to strengthen the team’s technical direction and implement a clear footballing philosophy as Sierra Leone looks to become more competitive in continental competitions.

With the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers fast approaching, the federation believes the Frenchman’s wealth of experience will be instrumental in guiding the national team through a demanding period and helping to turn the fortunes of Sierra Leone football around.

The new coach now faces the task of assembling a competitive squad capable of meeting the expectations of supporters and delivering positive results as the Leone Stars embark on their next chapter under his leadership.
