SUPER FALCONS TARGET OLYMPIC QUALIFICATION PROGRESS AGAINST COMOROS

The Super Falcons of Nigeria will today, Tuesday, October 13, take on Comoros in the second leg of their second-round qualifying tie for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States.

The encounter is scheduled for three o’clock this afternoon at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.

Nigeria go into the decisive fixture with a two-goal advantage following their 2-nil victory in the first leg last Friday.

Defender Michelle Alozie opened the scoring in the 48th minute before forward Uchenna Kanu doubled the lead on the hour mark to give the nine-time African champions a comfortable advantage.

Interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen will be hoping his players maintain their impressive performance and secure another victory to advance to the next round of the African qualifying series.

The Super Falcons are expected to capitalise on their home advantage, while Comoros must produce a strong performance to overturn the two-goal deficit and keep their Olympic hopes alive.

Victory on aggregate will send Nigeria into the third round, where they are expected to face Morocco.

The Super Falcons are seeking to qualify for consecutive Olympic Games following their appearance at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where they returned to the women’s football competition after a 16-year absence.

Two African teams will qualify for the women’s football event at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
