Nigeria’s Super Falcons have arrived in Rabat, Morocco, as they gear up for the start of their title defence at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The nine-time? No—record 10-time African champions made a colourful entrance into the Moroccan capital, dressed in coordinated green-and-white traditional outfits with matching headwraps, reflecting both unity and confidence ahead of the tournament.
Coach Justine Madugu’s squad travelled from Casablanca, where they spent the past 10 days putting the finishing touches to their preparations.
Their training camp ended on a positive note with a 2-1 victory over Tanzania’s Twiga Stars in an international friendly.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade and forward Esther Okoronkwo found the back of the net in the win, giving the team added momentum ahead of their opening fixture.
The Super Falcons will begin their Group C campaign on Tuesday against tournament newcomers Malawi at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat.
They will then face Zambia’s Copper Queens at the same venue before rounding off the group stage against Egypt at the Olympic Stadium.
Nigeria heads into the competition aiming to secure an unprecedented 11th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title, reinforcing its status as the most successful team in the history of the tournament.
