Super Falcons Unveil 25-Player Squad for WAFCON 2026 Title Defence

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced a 25-player Super Falcons squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) as Nigeria prepares to defend its continental crown in Morocco.

Head coach Justine Madugu has assembled a balanced team of experienced internationals and promising young players for the tournament, which will run from July 25 to August 16.

Leading the squad is captain Asisat Oshoala, while other key players include Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, Michelle Alozie, Jennifer Echegini, Christy Ucheibe and veteran forward Francisca Ordega.

The squad announcement, released by the NFF on the Super Falcons’ official X account, also features several players who have become regulars in the national team setup.

One of the notable omissions is defender Ashleigh Plumptre, who was not included in the final list.

Nigeria heads into the championship as the most successful nation in the competition’s history, having lifted the WAFCON trophy 10 times—in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2024.
