Coventry City have unveiled Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi as the club’s new number 14 following his move from Nottingham Forest.
The Championship side confirmed the forward’s shirt number as Awoniyi begins a new chapter of his career with the Sky Blues.
The unveiling was accompanied by the message, “Your number 14 ‼️”, as Coventry welcomed the Nigerian international to the club.
Awoniyi joins Coventry after leaving Nottingham Forest in a deal reportedly worth around £9 million.
The move brings an end to his time at Forest, where he made a strong impression with his pace, physical presence and ability to lead the attack.
The 28-year-old striker will now wear the number 14 shirt as he looks to establish himself as a key figure in Coventry’s attacking plans.
Awoniyi’s arrival is expected to add experience and firepower to Coventry’s forward line.
Having played in England, Germany and Belgium, as well as representing Nigeria at international level, the striker brings considerable experience to his new club.
The Nigerian forward will be hoping to rediscover his best form, stay fit and play a central role in Coventry City’s ambitions for the new season.
For Super Eagles supporters, the move also provides another opportunity to closely follow Awoniyi’s progress as he begins life at Coventry City in his new number 14 shirt.
