Scorchers vice captain, Temwa Chawinga, scored her first goal after making her return from her injury as Kansas City Current beat Brazilian side, Palmeiras, 6-1 to defend the Teal Rising Cup in USA on Sunday.
After missing the opening match of the tournament, Chawinga was handed a start in her second match since making a return and lead a rampant Current side that scored 6 goals in the opening half to seal their win.
Chawinga’s strike was brilliant as she entered the box through the left before beating two players then the goalkeeper before slotting it home to make it 6-0.
This marked Chawinga’s first trophy of the season with Kansas City Current in 2026 and her first goal of the season as she has now one goal and one assist in two games.
