The young Moroccan left back Moncef Zekri is currently at Estadio Jose Alvalade to finalize his signing with Sporting CP.
The 17-year-old defender is set to sign a four-season contract with the Lisbon club, where he is posing for official photos ahead of the announcement of his transfer.
To secure the signing of the young talent developed at KV Mechelen, the Portuguese club’s management paid a fixed fee of approximately 3.5 million euros, along with variable bonuses.
Sporting has thus beaten out several major European suitors, including PSV Eindhoven and Ajax Amsterdam, who were also in the running.
Having made a name for himself in Belgium and shone with Morocco’s youth national teams, the promising international arrives in Lisbon to bolster the Leoes left flank.
He will help fill the void left by Ricardo Mangas departure and compete with Maxi Araujo under the Portuguese coaching staff.
