Uganda Olympic Qualifiers camp boosted by arrival of three players

The Uganda Senior Women’s National Team camp has been boosted with the arrival of three players as preparations continue for the 2028 CAF Women’s Olympic Qualifiers against Zambia.

Goalkeeper Ruth Aturo and defender Zainah Nandede, both of Simba Queens, together with midfielder Joan Nabirye of Yanga Princesses, arrived at the Crested Cranes camp in Kisasi on Saturday.

The trio, who are based in Tanzania, add to the squad ahead of the first leg against Zambia scheduled for Thursday, 8th October 2026 at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo. More foreign-based players are expected to join the team as preparations continue.

The Crested Cranes played a practice match against Isra Soccer Academy on Saturday 3rd October 2026 and will have a recovery session today at their team base, Cranes Paradise Hotel. The winner on aggregate between Uganda and Zambia will advance to the third round, where they will face either Mauritius or Ghana.
